A chronograph is a timepiece that can register and record time in multiple ways. Chronograph watches generally include a stopwatch function capable of measuring hours, minutes, and seconds, as well as the capability to measure lap times and split times. "Lap time" is simply the time elapsed since the last time the Lap Time button was pressed - a runner might time each lap around a track, for example. "Split time" is simply the total time of a session - the sum of your consecutive laps. Some chronograph watches also feature a Countdown Timer, or "reminder timer." | Suunto watches that feature a chronograph usually also have the capability to store your timing results in memory. Many Suunto watches store split time data for up to 99 runs, and up to 99 laps. This allows more detailed, long-term analysis - especially with models that can upload information to your computer. Chronograph watches are useful in a variety of activities, including fitness training, sports, aviation, and diving. There are several different Suunto chronograph watches - but each model has varying additional capabilities and functionality. |
