Our Review of the Suunto ANT Heart Rate Belt

The Suunto ANT Heart Rate Belt is crucial when one hopes to get the most out of their Suunto heart rate monitor wristop computer. The ANT belt not only monitors your heart rate and EPOC, it sends the data via wireless technology to your Suunto or your PC POD so that you can record and analyze your data after your workouts have ended.

Works only with the Suunto t6, t4, and t3. Comes standard with a medium elastic chest strap (24-34.5"). If you need a larger or smaller strap, they are sold separately.

HR Transmitters are model specific so make sure to choose the right one:

Suunto Standard Heart Rate Belt - Works with the Suunto Metron, Suunto Advizor, X6-HR, and X3-HR.

  • Lightweight, durable and extremely comfortable to wear
  • Low power consumption technology - no yearly battery change necessary
  • 100% Water Resistant
  • Comes standard with a medium elastic chest strap (24-34.5
  • User-replaceable battery

ANT Heart Rate Belt - Replacement

4
Reviewer: Tom , Denver, CO Date: February 21, 2008
My original heart rate belt lasted for approximately 3,000 miles on the bike and numerous trips to the gym. I needed a replacement, but not a new monitor. The ordering and shipping was fast and easy!

Pro's & Con's

First of all, I am a cyclist and I use the HR Monitor with my Bike Pod work and they work in perfect harmoney. That I love. The unit itself is great. Fits well, but if the pecs are pumped you get some gap. The strap is as comfortable as any strap around your chest as your sucking for air. I train in a chain gym with many wireless machines and different devices being used and nothing has interfered with my own communication between my HR Belt and my T3. 2008 I start training for an Olympic Tri in September and I am a little bummed that I will have to lose the HR Belt for the swim poriton. I know that there are many challenges to designing a belt that can be used underwater, but when they figure it out I will be ordering one of the first ones. (come one guys! you make dive watches...) Here is my only real Con and it may have been an isolated incident, but I immediately had trouble with my first HR Belt the day it wore it into the shower. I replaced the battery, paired, and still no communication. It appears I blew out the belt in the shower. (might have been a leak in the battery cover and shorted something out) Not sure why, but it is so important to my training that I simply ordered a new one and will avoid the shower :)

ANT Heart Rate Belt

I use this product with the T6 watch. Very reliable and easy to use. Pairing is a breeze. The only negative comment I have is the strap holder. It gave way after 2 years of usage and I had to use an elastic band to hold it in place. Other than the holder, I am very satisfied with is product.

Replacement Heartrate (ANT) Belts have a problem

1
Reviewer: Anonymous , Houston, TX Date: September 23, 2007
I love my T4 Coach. The heart rate transmitter belt broke. I ordered a replacement. It did not connect with the T4. It was replaced twice more with belts that would not connect with the T4. Quality control of the replacement belts seems to be a problem. (yes, my T4 works with another heart rate belt I got previously.)

Fragile Connection

Reviewer: Marshall , Washington, DC Date: April 14, 2007
I love my T6 -- it enables me to measure my progress -- or sometimes -- lack of... I find the transmitter very frustrating. Every 18 months or so one of the holes where the strap connects blows out requiring a new transmitter. At $70 this is an expensive proposition. *** SENT TO JANICE FOR RESPONSE 4/30

Comments from The Staff:

I contacted Suunto directly and apparently they had a run of weak belts, but it is not a common occurance. Suunto customer service should replace that at warranty without any cost to you. Please phone them at 800-543-9124.
