When you're out in the field, knowing your body's reaction to the elements is just as important as knowing altitude and barometric pressure. You need the Suunto Advizor. The Advizor comes equipped with altimeter, barometer, compass, and heart rate monitor, allowing you to keep track of how the elements impact your heart rate.

Standout Features:

  • Altimeter, barometer, and compass
  • Heart rate monitor
  • Barometer tracks 4 days of pressure trends for weather prediction
  • Clock, alarm, dual time, and stopwatch

What Does the Suunto Advizor do?

Heart Rate Monitor Watch: For those who train for adventure, the heart rate monitor function on the Suunto Advisor tracks your physical performance at the gym and in the field.

For optimum performance, the Advizor functions as a personal trainer. Set your ideal heart rate zones, and the Advizor alerts you when your preset limits are exceeded.

When used in conjunction with the altimeter, the heart rate monitor keeps track of the impact of altitude and vertical rate of movement on heart rate.

The Advizor also stores training time, maximum and minimum heart rate, average heart rate, and time spent in your target heart rate zone.

Altimeter Watch: Climbers, skiers, and hikers rely on the altitude data provided by the Advizor's altimeter.

An automatic 24-hour memory stores altitude, ascent/descent, and features an adjustable altitude alarm. For skiers and snowboarders, the Advizor records cumulative vertical ascents and descents as well as the number of runs skied.

Barometer Watch: While you know how to read the sky to guess at the weather, the Advizor removes the guesswork and replaces it with robust data.

The barometer displays current pressure and temperature and records barometric pressure from the past 4 days, allowing you to make strong predictions.

Set the reference altitude to show the present sea level pressure, helping you to better interpret barometric pressure at high altitudes

Compass Watch: Even in whiteout conditions, the compass on your Suunto Advizor guides you to safety. The compass tracks cardinal or half-cardinal points and features the north-south arrow. The compass can also be set to track a certain bearing.

The declination adjustment allows you to the correct the difference between true north and magnetic north for more accurate readings.

Watch Features: Wake up on time with the alarm and have two alarms left over to remind you of meetings and lunch. The Suunto Advizor also has a calendar programmed to the year 2089, a stopwatch with split-time measurements, and a countdown timer. Keep trac of the time where you are and where your family waits with the dual time feature.

Who is the Suunto Advizor best for?

The Suunto Advizor features a sporty look and larger watch face that is best suited to avid adventurers or those who keep their look outdoorsy both at the office and on the trail.

With top-notch adventure features like altimeter, barometer, compass, and heart rate monitor the Advizor is the perfect companion for avid adventurers who want to take their training to the next level.

Comparison: If you want a Suunto compass watch without a heart rate monitor, check out the Suunto Vector. The Vector is essentially the Advizor, except that it does not have a heart rate monitor.

For a more training focused heart rate monitor watch, check out the Suunto t6c. The t6c tracks heart rate and adds in training effect, a measure of your aerobic conditioning level. The t6c also has a unique computer interface that allows you to keep close tabs on your training efforts. The t6c features an altimeter; however, it does not have a barometer or compass.

Excellent do-it-all watch

I've owned my Advizor for about four years with no problems. The Advizor is a great deal for only $35 more than the Suunto Vector . The Advizor is basically a Vector with heart rate functions. I like the color scheme as well. The black and grey is a great color combination. The display is easy to read and large. The watch is light and fits the wrist well. Battery replacement is easy. The plastic face does scratch but can be rubbed out with Polywatch. A great watch that performs well.

Everything - from the time I looked through the Suuntowatches.com website, until now, when I am still going through the many functions of this awesome watch - was a phenomenal customer service and product excellence experience! I will recommend Suunto to everyone who needs the maximum in function and performance in their sports watch.

Great functions, easy to understand, have had no durability issues. Highly recommend the watch! Only wish it could count calories burned during a climb.

I love my Suunto Advizor!

I have to admit that I purchased my Advizor with a bit of skepticism. I was looking for a Heart Rate monitor but, as a skier, loved the idea of the altimeter. My concern was that it would possibly do neither well. Since purchasing the watch all concerns are dismissed! The heart rate monitor works fantastically. It has more functions than I use and would work very well for competitive situations where the alarms would come into play and help manage heart rate during exertion. Similarly, the altimeter has been fantastic. The ability to track ascent/descent/laps and rates is not only useful, it is fun. I can see how this would be a serious tool for climbers. For me it's more recreational and record keeping. Having said that, the information helps benchmark activity and naturally pushes me to the next level. Things to know (not complaints) are that the reference altitude and barometer need to be set often if you're really concerned about exactly where things are at. I'm not sure there is a way around this with anything but GPS as atmospheric pressure is used for the measurement...and that changes continuously in our environment both naturally and unnaturally (buildings, planes, etc.). I have also noticed that the signal from the heart rate monitor is strong and that I don't get other signals from people close to me working out (spin class). I have had others receive my signal which is fine with me. Note that it works poorly in a vehicle if at all. I'm guessing too much EMI in the area...just a note that if it doesn't look right you should consider the environment you are in before thinking there is a malfunction. Some say the size is bulky, but it hasn't bothered me a bit. The lens is holding up fine after three months. If you want a combo HR/Altimeter at a good price I'm not sure you could beat the Advizor.

Great Watch

I purchased this watch for my boyfriend for Christmas and it was as if he was 5 y/o and given a toy car! I do not think he is taken it off yet. He uses the HR and altimeter while hiking and skiing and enjoys comparing the two. He plans on using it while climbing Aconcagua these upcoming weeks.

I've had my Advizor since 02'. It's been from the Grand Tetons to the Yucatan and still runs great. Finally having to replace the band. Looks like I'm not the only one to have the bezzle markings wear off, thought it was just my rough use. ;-)

COMBAT PROVEN

Reviewer: SSG MARTIN 1ST CAV , CT Date: December 16, 2007
This watch was worn by me an infantry soldier in Iraq for 18 months of proven battle, it remained accurate even in 134 degrees plus. All of the men in my squad and most of the men in my platoon wear this watch. The only issue I have had with this watch was one day i was on patrol in about 140 degree heat and then went into a building that was about 70 degrees my watch face cracked on the inside of the glass. once I got the chance to contact SUUNTO I told them what happen they immediately replace my watch with a brand new NO QUESTIONS ASKED

Versatile, sturdy and reliable

Reviewer: Brian , Auburn, WA Date: November 19, 2007
Love my "geek" watch. Have had it 3 or 4 years, use the HR monitor all the time running (occasionally misses a lap reading), the altimeter for running and hiking (altimeter very accurate allowing for variations in air pressure column), the alarm for waking up (could be louder). Compass has enabled me to find my way back to camp more than once. Very durable - gets caked with mud and dust when I got rockhunting, saturated w/ chlorine when I go swimming yet keeps on working fine. Face is a little scratched but not bad considering the rough treatment it's had. Have repaired the band 3 times w/ Superglue but guess it's time for a new one now.

The watch is great. If you want the benefit of using all the functions accurately you're going to have to spend some time in the manual. The size of the watch makes it prone to random smacks and wear and tear, so I would recommend getting the screen guard. All in all, well worth the money, timely delivery, very satisfied.
