    Suunto Elastic Over Jacket Strap

    1
Reviewer: Roland Vnyard , Sprakers, NY Date: November 28, 2009
Comfortable, but not so good if worn under clothing. D rings tend to slip sideways, but the big problem is the chintzy vinyl that actually holds the watch to the strap. After 6 weeks of easy wear, both straps are starting to break.

    Decent Band

    3
Reviewer: Anonymous , Fayetteville NC Date: September 22, 2009
I have had this band for over a year now. The rubber straps that hold the watch to the band are crap and have broken three to four times each but I have fixed the problem basically by sewing the watch to the band with black thread. I simply did the sewing right where the rubber failed and I havent had a problem with the watch band since. I wear the watch daily, rarely taking it off at night, and it continues to work great. The manafacturer should replace the rubber with some codura nylon and this would be an amazing band. I am getting ready to purcase another one because this one is getting ratty. I will take the new one to a seamstress to have her reinforce the rubber bands so that I dont have to worry about loosing my watch.

    Unnecessarily weak

    1
Reviewer: Jeff , Frederick, MD Date: July 19, 2009
I love my Suunto Watch and I love the "concept" of this band, but the rubber straps are so weak they negate any value the band has. I like the width, I like the comfort, I like the stability of a wide band with a large watch, but for goodness sake a 5 cent attachment point is a ridiculous failure. I'm on my third band. Its even more ridiculous that I keep buying them. In fact, I was about to head out to buy another one this morning for an upcoming AT thru-hike, but the other reviews have just changed my mind. Please Suunto...you're better designers than this.

    Elastic Strap

    1
Reviewer: Anonymous , Enumclaw, WA Date: May 13, 2009
This will be the 3rd strap that I have had to purchase in the last 4 years. The rubber rips where the watch connects. Great watch, lousy band.

    Installation Issues

    1
Reviewer: Anonymous , Park City, UT Date: January 24, 2008
This is a fine product but can only be installed with a special tool. Amazingly, the tool which is shown in the instructions is neither included nor available for sale! I finally had to take the whole mess to a jeweler to install.

    suunto over the jacket strap

    1
Reviewer: Dr. Gregory A. Farber , West Hartford, CT Date: December 03, 2007
this strap is useless, there is no way, even fully extended this 'elastic' band can stretch over any jacket!!!the thermometer on the altimax is useless if this watch/altimiter has to be worn on the inside of a jacket--what a shame from a half-way decent company.

    Elastic Strap

    2
Reviewer: Wes P. , Dawsonville, Ga. Date: October 07, 2007
Same thing here. This is an okay design, love the big wide strap but I expected something more durable from Suunto. Mine broke in the same place after about 2 months. Keep the plastic hooks and by an 8 dollar big velcro strap.

Thank you for the feedback. We work closely with Suunto and make as many suggestions as possible as to how to improve the performance of their products. At the same time, we are just a retailer and changes to the watches or bands themselves have to be made by the manufacturer. Please keep in mind that your watch band may be under warranty. Try to contact Suunto USA at 800-543-9124 or online at www.Suunto.com

    Band is ok

Reviewer: Anonymous , Delaware, OH Date: August 22, 2007
The rubber is breaking where the watch attaches after 1 month. At its most open setting, the strap is very tight over even a light jacket, but it is still basically functional. The good news is that you get the plastic band holders needed to make most of the generic bands work.

    elastic over jacket strap

    1
Reviewer: Al Girolami , Oakdale, CA Date: March 18, 2007
my original lasted at least three years. However, my replacement only lasted one year before rubber breaking where the watch attaches. Also, even at its most open setting, the strap was very tight over even a light jacket.

    Comments from The Staff:

Hmm, I've never heard of that happening before! Sounds to me like you might have received a defective strap. Try contacting Suunto, the manufacturer, directly at 800-543-9124.
