The new Suunto G6 enables the golfer to discover the perfect swing. After each swing, they can check their tempo, rhythm, backswing length and speed. More than two years of development and research were needed to integrate three acceleration sensors in the lightweight (55g / 1.92 oz.) Suunto G6 watch. As this watch measures 200 times a second the movement of your wrist with extremely high accuracy it is called a wristop computer.
Swing Analyzer
Improvement relies on consistency, that's why Suunto G6 measures the consistency index. It indicates the overall accuracy for systematically repeating similar golf swings. It indicates the muscle memory because accuracy relies on consistency!

Tempo (T) is the time from club take-off to ball impact. Pro's tempo is between 0.9 and 1.3 seconds. You might be slower because of age or fitness, but tempo also relies on the rhythm of your swing. |

Rhythm (R) indicates the duration of the downswing compared to tempo. For example, if the rhythm is 25%, the downswing takes one fourth of the swing. While practicing to reach this tour players ratio Suunto G6 shows the length of the backswing, too. |

Length (L) of the backswing measured in degrees affects the rhythm and tempo but is easy to control and to improve using the Suunto G6. If these parameters match well your swing will end up in a higher clubhead Speed (S) and you will get a better feeling for the ball impact. |

Scorekeeping and Statistics During the Game Suunto G6 simplifies scorekeeping, completely erases the need for paperwork and memorizes information such as scores and handicaps. During the round, the Suunto G6 constantly updates the leader and thus allows players with different handicaps to compete seriously. This watch is packed with features. Unfortunately the manual leaves a lot to be desired. There are no real step by step instructions as to the integration of the functions.
A watch with this much functionality should have a detailed instruction manual.Eg. When in game mode does it capture your swing info and how do you differentiate between a setup practice swing and an actual game swing while playing a course?

Best Golf watch ever. This watch is on my wrist 24/7 for 2 years now and I still love it. I have been using it also on the golf course keeping track of my game. What a bonus.

Definitely this is a great gadget, but I'm not sure how helpful it will be to improve your game.

Supplemental Operating Instructions

The manual provides too little information on how to connect to computer; how to offload info to the computer; what to look for to improve your golf experience and helpful hints on how to get the most out of the watch. However, I think the watch is a marvel at presenting the results of your swing and I love the watch. I have not been able to review its results in my computer. Maybe an expert writer/technician owner should write a manual (I'd buy one!!)

What was that thing flashing at me?

After about a month of daily use I noticed a flashing bar at the top of the watch. Either a battery warning or memory usage indicator, I thought. I've only had the watch one month so I thought it was an indication of memory usage. I tried to look it up in the manual and no picture of the icon could be found. After I found that I couldn't connect my watch to my computer, I tried changing the batteries and everything returned to normal. I'm guessing that the batteries last about a month with heavy usage. That's acceptable to me. Since I don't intend to swim with my watch, I think I can reuse the covers if I'm careful and just order a bunch of batteries from Radio Shack if things get too expensive. For the moment, I just used my replacement battery that comes with the watch and ordered 4 more from Suunto. Shipping is a bit pricey for a little thing like a battery but not to bad if you order multiple batteries a one time.

Watch is good, battery life needs improving. Software I rate 2 stars, really needs more features like line graphs, estimated distance based on club and clughead speed.

Beside the fact that this "watch" is an outstanding tool I found it a little hard to learn to use, specially on the Links were you do not have plenty of time to spend playing with the device. I still am strugling to use it properly.
