Sleek design, but too big

3
Reviewer: Amy , Williamsburg, VA Date: July 10, 2008
I LOVE the features and the design of this watch, I just wish it were more petite and more rugged. I have a very slender wrist and this watch face is the same diameter as my wrist. I understand this is one of the most petite watches Suunto carries but I'd like to see a smaller one. I also wish the face were highly scratch resistant... the watch has functionality for outdoorsy activities so it should be designed to withstand that. I would love more strap options such as a hook-and-loop (velcro) option, and I'd like to be able to purchase the necklace and caribeaner options a la carte. I tried to test out the "storm alarm" and had that feature enabled and had the watch in barometer mode, but the alarm did not go off before or during a thunderstorm. Note: there is a way to display seconds count, contrary to what a previous reviewer said.

Lumi Sportif

I bought this watch about 3 months ago but started using it while hiking for the last 4 weeks. I was mainly interested in the altimeter. I have to say that the altimeter seems flawless. I am amazed at the acuracy. I am currently using this watch for hiking around the California mountains where the weather is rather steady without drastic changes. But I really bought the watch for trekking overseas and where the changes in pressures will be more drastic. I yet have to discover how this watch will perform under those conditions. But I don't expect problems; I may have to calibrate it more often, which is normal. The compass is acurate and working fine. The reason I don't give it 5 stars is because of the wrist band. This problem was mentioned in other reviews. I was so afraid to lose the watch because it pops out of the loop, that I have to leave a rubber band around the band to hold it in place. This is not ideal but it works. I wish the band would be more secure for a watch this price. Also I resent having to pay so much for a replacement band should I need one. The replacement bands come in sets of 2, which is not necessary. But as an instrument, this watch is great.

I Love My Terra Suunto Lumi

Reviewer: Cupcake , Westchester, New York Date: June 11, 2008
I was so excited to receive my Suunto Lumi watch! So far so good... Everything has been fairly accurate, including the storm alarm and compass. My small complaint is that even though I followed the directions carefully regarding how to adjust the watchband, it still resulted in a tight fit. I wish they had created a regular watchband that doesn't require snipping the plastic (just a regular adjustable would have been great). The band is pretty and seems durable. Maybe it's too much to ask but I wish they had included a heart monitor too. Another cool feature is the sunrise-sunset time. I don't have much trouble switching to the feature I'm looking for e.g. stop-watch. Doesn't feel overly heavy even with its big watchface. I like that it is a mirrored face- my husband was teasing me that I could look into it to put on lipstick- ladies, you actually can =). Anyway, I'm psyched to take it on a hike or trail.

I love the lumi watch. Finally a stream lined watch that fits a woman's wrist and you can even wear it "plain clothed' and look nice. I liked the bands femininity but it falls off easily and who wants to lose their $350 watch. And the face scratches easily. Also not good. But loved all the features! Suunto- when will the new and improved come out?

Great Watch!!

Reviewer: Christine , Pullman, Washington Date: April 02, 2008
I just bought the Suunto Lumi watch and I love it! The price is reasonable and contrary to other reviews I love the band because it is lightweight and not thick and bulky. The only recommendation I have for Suunto is have the availability of this watch in Titanium rather than Stainless Steel, otherwise this watch is a five stars!

Great watch but the worst watch bad in the world! if you going to drop that kind of money for a top quality watch from Suunto you better get a great band. if they fix the band the watch would be great.

Looks good- thats all

Reviewer: Anonymous , Santa Monica, CA Date: March 05, 2008
Purchased watch as valentine's gift for my wife. It looks cool. Thermometer does not work at all. When I called customer support about why thermometer was always off by more than 10'F, repeatedly told need to take watch off wrist for accurate temperature. Even my old Casio had a thermometer that worked on my wrist. Altimeter and barometer fun to play with. Wife is happy- I am happy. Would have liked more straps bundled with package for $300 and thermometer that works when on her wrist.

Comments from The Staff:

Thanks for your thoughts. Suuntos generally tend to display about 5 degrees warmer than actual while being worn, but 10 is something I haven't seen, leading me to believe the watch may be defective. If you purchased from us, please see our returns page for info on our returns / exchange policy. Thanks again for your feedback.

Love the watch not the band

4
Reviewer: Anonymous , Salt Lake City, UT Date: February 12, 2008
I got the Suunto Lumi Sportif for Christmas and I absolutely love the features on the watch. I live in Utah and am an avid skier so the altimeter really works for me! I find it easy to switch back and forth between settings and the size is perfect. I didn't give the watch 5 stars because my band is somehow filthy and I've only had the watch for less than 2 months. I don't even wear it every day. I also scratched the face on week 2 which is a bummer and I wish the rim had been slightly raised to protect the face.

Lumi review

Reviewer: Anonymous , Salmon, ID Date: February 04, 2008
I like the watch. It's easy to use and looks good. My only complaint is that the battery died within 1 month from when I received the watch (and no, I did not use the backlight a bunch!). Still, I'd go with the Lumi again. I love the compass and altimeter functions - I've found them to be quite accurate.
