Our Review of the Suunto Observer/6-series Replacement Battery

Suunto Tip: HOW TO CHANGE A SUUNTO BATTERY
1. Insert a coin into the slot on the battery compartment cover on the backside of the Wristop (for the lrg. black covers, a NICKEL is the correct coin). NEVER USE A SCREWDRIVER. There are no threads!
2. Turn the coin counterclockwise just until it lines up with the circle marked "OPEN" alongside the cover.
3. Remove the cover. The cover will usually not pop out. Use a fingernail to pry it open but mind the O-ring. Ensure that the O ring and all surfaces are clean and dry. Do not stretch or puncture the O ring.
4. Remove the old battery carefully.
5. Place the new battery into the compartment (positive side facing up).
6. With the O ring in the correct position, replace the battery compartment cover and turn it clockwise with a coin just until it lines up with the "CLOSED" circle. DO NOT TURN PAST THIS POINT.

Suunto Battery Kit

I've replaced my battery many times before and not followed instructions to get this kit as Suunto says. It had always been hard to do and the coin slot was wearing out on the compartment door, making it harder the next time. This kit made it easy with a new cover and a special tool to get the cover off. The new cover gives you a better seal and protects your watch. I'm glad I used this kit.

Suunto Replacement Battery - Easy to install

Suunto Observer/6-series/Core/Lumi Replacement Battery came just in time (as agreed) for my trip to Colorado's Front Range of the Rocky Mountains. I love the fact that I can change it myself.

Big Upgrade

Do yourself a favor and buy this product even if you dont need a new battery right now. The original battery cover is about as soft as butter. This is a big upgrade. I had to use a drill to make two holes in the origional cover to remove the battery. This cover is much harder and the key is less destructive than a coin. Next time I can go down to the hardware store and just buy the battery. Highly recomend this product. Big Upgrade. Cannot understand why they don't inlude this cover and key with the watch.

Suunto Battery Kit for T6

The battery kit for the Suunto T6 watch makes it extremely easy to change the battery on this watch. For other sports watches, I have had to take them to a battery replacement store, but with the T6 I changed the battery myself in less than a minute. This is extremely convenient given my busy schedule.

Good and Bad

All the good you can read from the other comment. But the bad is ,I wonder why this is the only watch in the world that must has the lid replaced when you change the battery. I have many watches, and this is the only watch that got the lid have to be replaced. I think they can come up with a better design (again like the other makes did). I hope they will have upgrade lid available soon.
Replacing only the rubber ring is acceptable, since it can getting bad over the time.
The metal key that use for opening the lid quite a waste once you have it from the previous kit. Suunto can help by providing this piece once customer purchase the watch. If customer lost it, this piece can be ordered separately (not come with the kit every time). I'm sure that this can help reduce the cost for the battery kit.

Observer Battery kit

I have not used it yet but wish that the need to get a battery lid due to the lid being soft and becoming damaged when changing the battery was not the case. It would be great to just get a battery locally and be done. Love the watch..

Suunto Observer Battery Kit

The kit was excellent and the service was very fast. I needed the new cover and o-ring in addition to the battery itself, in order to fully restore my watch. I first called several watch dealers, and they were useless, but then I found the right product online. I recommend this kit to any Suunto watch owner.
