Suunto Regatta Reviews
little problems

Overall the functions of this watch are, as others have said, fine; however; there are small details that make this watch less usable.
The face of the watch is too soft and is a "scratch magnet." In bright sun, with the light refracting off the many scratches, I often have trouble reading the watch.
Also, the alarm sound is a little anemic. If you're in the middle of the pack at the start of a race, it is often hard to hear the start timer beeps.

review of Suunto Regatta watch
Reviewer: Lambert Lai , Walworth, NY

The watch has large, easy to read numbers and letters. The four buttons have an unfortunate habit of snagging on foul weather gear. In fact, I lost the minus button off my watch while putting on a dinghy top. The minus button snagged on the cuff and disappeared off the boat in a heartbeat. Other than that, the watch has been outstanding. A feature I would like to see in the future is automatic rollover on the countdown timer. In other words, once initiated, a simple push of a button should be able to automatically cycle the time back to the original setting and restart the timing cycle. At present one has to stop the cycle with two pushes, reset the watch to the original time and then restart the cycle. This means you would miss the timed cycle during a starting sequence. Also, I would like to be able to set a sequence of more than the ten minute sequence the watch is presently limited to. This would allow you to set the time during another fleets starting cycle and allow the time to roll over into your own starting sequence.

Regatta Watch
Reviewer: Anonymous , Newport, RI

I've had my regatta for almost 5 years now and it has seen a lot of offshore miles. Here's my .02
Pros:
-Big numbers are easy to read in all light
-easy to use countdowns can be also be recycled if you miss a gun
-Compass is handy if you can keep it level
Cons:
-Numbers on rotating bezel wear off quickly
-bezel is hard to move, not so good if you are trying to adjust it before a start
-takes effort to get the backlight to come on at night
-the rubber strap lasts about 18 months. Plan on replacing it often if you are in saltwater and sun
