- 1 - 'O-ring' Gasket.
Suunto Tip: HOW TO CHANGE A SUUNTO BATTERY
1. Insert a coin into the slot on the battery compartment cover on the backside of the Wristop (for the lrg. black covers, a NICKEL is the correct coin). NEVER USE A SCREWDRIVER. There are no threads!
2. Turn the coin counterclockwise just until it lines up with the circle marked "OPEN" alongside the cover.
3. Remove the cover. The cover will usually not pop out. Use a fingernail to pry it open but mind the O-ring. Ensure that the O ring and all surfaces are clean and dry. Do not stretch or puncture the O ring.
4. Remove the old battery carefully.
5. Place the new battery into the compartment (positive side facing up).
6. With the O ring in the correct position, replace the battery compartment cover and turn it clockwise with a coin just until it lines up with the "CLOSED" circle. DO NOT TURN PAST THIS POINT.

Suunto Standard Battery Kit and Cover

I bought the battery and cover after a previous watch finally got water in it from too old a cover whose O-ring failed. The new cover works fine. However, the included battery failed after about 60 days forcing me to buy a replacement battery at a local drug store.

Not knowing where to find my battery and door when I needed it posed a challenge at first. All it took was one trip to Suunto.com and the search linked me to the store page. I saw the battery kit including a new O ring and door and that was exactly what I needed! Very simple transaction and I was thankful for their consideration to this matter. Thumbs up from me! I'll never worry about finding a battery as long as I own the watch again!
