Needs a silent or vibrating alarm

5
Reviewer: Raymond Melton , Nitro, WV Date: November 05, 2009
I have had my X-Lander Military edition for months now and have found it to be the best watch I have ever owned. I am in the US Army and I use my military edition X-Lander a lot when we go out into the field to conduct operations. During a training event my squad was tasked to do an ambush. We set the ambush and waited for the enemy to come. I set my alarm for the approx. time they were to come by and just as they were coming by the alarm went off and gave away our position. I would love to see a silent or vibrating alarm feature to be added to the military editions of all Suunto watches. Besides that, the altimeter works great, temp is fantastic and compass is very accurate. The only other Suunto I ever used was a Vector at an army school. Loved it so much I had to buy one of my own. Then I upgraded to the X-Lander. BY FAR THE BEST WATCHES EVER MADE!!!

Tough as Nails!

I have two X-Landers, (Negative Face and Military Addition). The first one I bought almost three years ago and just ordered a replacement battery for it. The Military addition is coming up on its 2 year anniversary. I wear both, not at the same time, equally. The Military is by far my favorite watch I have to date. It is tough, durable, accurate and quite the conversation piece. Both perform very well. The compass and altitude work well. The temp works well too. If I need an accurate reading of temp, I take it off and let it set for a few minutes. I put it in a hot tub once to get temp. We thought the reading provided by the hot tub was off, it was way too hot. The hot tub said it was 102 and my X-Lander said it was 106.4. We called a service repair man and he measured the temp with his high tech laser. The high tech laser gave a reading of 106.8. The repair man told me he needs to get one of those watches. He replaced the temp gauge on the hot tub. The rubber strap on the Military is tough and durable. The polyurethane strap on the Neg. Face is a decent strap but does show wear with-in a year. I chose that strap because I do go in the water with my watches. I wish they had more durable strap for the non-military X-Lander. All in all, these are great watches and I am very happy with them. I am very tough on my watches and they hold up as good as any that I have owned previously. They are a great value for the money. Enjoy!

Hard to read Black Face

3
Reviewer: Butch Gregoria , Oceanport, NJ Date: August 30, 2009
I to bought the X-Lander Black Face based on the advertised picture that makes it appear to be easily seen, its just ok during the day but at night or in the dark the backlit display is a no show, I believe Suunto has the technology to make this a bit brighter. Ive owned this watch for 3 years and have had no other problems with it,its still in excellent condition and Ive replaced the battery once. I cant sell this watch due to other complaints about the backlit display but would have bought the positive if not for the deceptive advertising.

Strap

Reviewer: Alex , hong kong Date: August 24, 2009
I have been wearing this model of Suunto watch since 2000. I am fully happy with its functions. However, the leather strap of this watch is not durable enough. On average, I need to replace it every less than 2 years. I consider this is unacceptable. Now I am wearing this watch with a plastic strap of another brand. A shame of Suunto.

Great Watch

I've had my Xlander for little over a year now. As an aviator, parachutist, hiker, it has served me well. I had to replace the band however. It's not a simple wristwatch it requires a better band...

Overall performance high.

I have had this XLander since late 2002 using it in XC skiing and field shooting. Excellent performer; only complaint is that the time-setting function is overly complicated and does not permit "to-the-second" sync with other similar devices. I would buy Suunto again.

x-lander military

Reviewer: Anonymous , nj,nj Date: June 03, 2009
Just purchased the military x-lander. loved it great looking watch, great features, I was excited to put it on. Unfortunately as fast as I put it on I took it off and repackaged the watch. I don't understand how such an outstanding watch can have such a terrible band. I read the other reviews and knew there were strap / band complaints but had to learn for myself. I'm gonna try the Core next. I must say that I called Suunto and they were aware of the complaint and were extremely helpfull in assisting me.

X-Lander Ltd Mil Edt

4
Reviewer: Anonymous , Denver, CO Date: March 29, 2009
I used to be a Casio G-Shock owner until I went to Ft. Lewis and shattered my crystal in the field. Once I returned out of the field I went to the Tac Store and purchased a X-Lander Mil Edt. I owned a Vector previously and loved it, as for my X-Lander it is very impressive looking. My only complaint as I am a female and have small wrists, the band is difficult to get off and is very wide. However the watch has survived my field training and still looks brand new. Great watch!
