Suunto t3c Black Arrow: Suunto celebrates serving as the official timing and data partner of the International Triathlon Union (ITU) with the limited edition Suunto t3c Black Arrow. The Black Arrow combines the same leading edge technology you expect in the Suunto t3c with an urban design at home in the gym and the city.

At one point a fitness enthusiast who wanted to monitor and track their heart rate, caloric burn, and other exercise data would need a tangle of electrodes, complex equipment, and extensive personal guidance from a certified fitness trainer. Today, all you need is a Suunto T3c, a PC, and one or more accessories to create an optimal training range that outlines your ideal energy expenditure and muscle exertion while preventing you from overworking and damaging your muscles.

Turn your Suunto t3c into a GPS Watch with a Suunto GPS POD. The GPS POD tracks speed and distance across a wide variety of outdoor activities, including hiking and cycling.

Note: Also available is the Suunto t3. There are a few key differences between the t3 and t3c Suunto watches:

  • The t3 includes a heart rate belt; however, the heart rate belt is not the same comfort heart rate belt that comes with the t3c.
  • The t3c allows you to choose which workout logs to delete. The t3 only deletes logs once the watch hits the 15-log memory capacity.

Standout Features:

  • ANT comfort heart rate monitor belt features soft fabric for comfort and traction strips for a snug fit. The belt also provides interference free HR monitoring.
  • The women's t3c watches features attractive graphics, unique detailing, and a softer, slimmer strap for an improved fit.
  • Training Effect monitors your aerobic conditioning level.
  • 15 logs of memory. Save all of your logs, or just selected ones. - Measures real time calories burned.
  • Tracks speed and distance when paired with a Suunto POD (Peripheral Observation Device).

What Does the t3c do?

Training Effect: Suunto's exclusive Training Effect feature tells you whether you're training too little, too hard or staying within the zones for optimal performance. Training Effect uses a simple one - to - five scale to display how intense your workout is based on your current fitness level. And with alarms, you'll know as soon as you move up or down in intensity level.

Interference Free Heart Rate Monitoring: The ANT heart rate belt provides interference free HR monitoring anywhere and everywhere, remedying problems associated with previous HR monitors that were affected by power lines outside or electronic equipment inside the gym, making the t3c a valuable investment for those who love to train outdoors as well as in.

15 Log Memory: Record a personal training log of statistical data that reflects the progression of your aerobic health and performance capacity. And choose whether to save all of your logs or just select ones.

Activity Class: The Activity Class rates your current activity levels so that your Suunto watch knows your baseline activity level.

Track Data on Your PC (with the PC POD): Using the PC POD, keep detailed records of your workouts, heart rate, training effect, and calories burned. The PC POD comes with Suunto Training Manager Lite software.

Track Speed and Distance (with a Suunto POD): With a POD for runners, bicyclers and adventurers, your Suunto t3c watch tracks speed and distance during workouts. Want to purchase your t3c with a POD? Choose a t3c training pack, including the Suunto Cycling Pack, Suunto Running Pack, and the GPS enabled Multisport Pack.

Who is the Suunto t3c best for?

Runners, triathletes, spinners, mountain bikers, and anyone getting into shape benefits from the Suunto t3c. The Suunto t3c maximizes your fitness routine by providing up to the second information on your workouts. And with handy features like a lock button to prevent pressing the wrong button during your workout, the Suunto t3c is easy to use.

Use your Suunto t3c with the Suunto GPS POD for Geocaching! A high-tech quest, geocaching uses GPS coordinates to hide and find small treasures. Find out how to Geocache the Suunto way!

Compatible Suunto Training Packs:

Comparison: The Suunto t6c features many of the same features as the t3c, only it adds an altimeter and features 30 logs of memory. The Suunto t1c offers heart rate monitoring and real calories burned, but forgoes the t3c's training effect, interference free HR monitoring, 15 logs of memory, and PC interface.

Note: If you own a Suunto t3 and updated your heart rate monitor belt to the Comfort Heart Rate Belt, instructions for replacing the comfort belt's battery can be found on page 38 of the t3c instruction manual, available under the "Additional Info" tab.

t3c rocks!

Reviewer: Anonymous , Santa Fe, NM Date: April 09, 2009
This watch was the perfect balance between form and function. I'm an amateur athelete who was looking for the basics in body measurements and a stylish watch without breaking the bank. The t3c is it...

Great Watch

Reviewer: Zach , Phoenix, AZ Date: February 15, 2009
This is my second T3. the first had water damage because one of the screws came loose and I didn't notice it until after it was too late. This is the most comfortable watch I have worn. With its function and good looks it is the best running watch I have used.

Very disappionted, frozen 3 times in 1 month. Lost training logs.

Reviewer: ben , manhattan, KS Date: February 08, 2009
I've had the watch for about 1 month now. Upon first impressions the watch looked like it came out of a gumball machine, and the watch face is raised making it prone to getting easily scratched(luckily mine hasn't scratched yet). So far the watch has frozen 3 times. The first time the face froze-no buttons worked the display did not move. The second time(about a week later) the backlight would not turn off no matter what combination of buttons I pressed. And today was the third and final time. While sleeping the watch has decided to turn itself off and not come back on. If the battery is dead, then the low bat indicator does not work. But that's not the case. I took the battery out, set the watch down for about 10 minutes, put the same battery back in and now it works again. Too bad all my logs got erased. The battery compartment seems poorly designed also, sometimes can be very hard to open, even with using a coin or similar oblect. When this watch works it nice and a great training aide/easy to use also the HR is very accurate. This could be a very nice watch if it was re-designed, and seems it neds some software updates....maybe I just got unlucky. But to me, it's really not worth the hassle associated with it. I would not suggest this watch.

Nice features, poor build quality

Reviewer: Klaas , Papendrecht, Netherlands Date: February 06, 2009
I choose this watch for its design and features (TE is great) and assuming that with Suunto you can't go wrong with quality. Boy was I wrong. From day 1 I have poor signal reception and frequent signal loss between watch and belt causing incorrect training statistics. According Suunto service the ANT signal cannot penetrate the human body so when the wrist is not facing the belt in a straight line, signal is lost after a few seconds. I must say that the service has been prompt and clear, but it is very disappointing to buy a 150 euro watch from Suunto and experiencing constant signal loss when riding a bike or when running. When you are interested in Suunto watches, be sure to check this site and the internet for models with signal loss...

Disappointing

1
Reviewer: DJP , Ventura, CA Date: December 02, 2008
I'm a longtime fan of Suunto products and love my Suunto Altimax altimeter watch. That being said, I find the T3C to be a disappointing product for several reasons. Although it does work well as an HRM, and I like the menuing, there are some problems that prevent me from recommending it. 1)This unit is made in China (not Finland) and doesn't have the same quality feel as the Suunto wrist computers. 2)The watch band (wrist strap) that comes with the unit is completely unsuitable for an athletic watch. It's polished, stiff, black plastic, and uncomfortable to wear. The replacement strap available from Suunto is perfect for this watch, should have been included and costs $20. Additionally, the strap is unique to Suunto so you cannot use a velcro strap or another brand. 3) The watch face scratches VERY easily, unlike the Suunto wrist computers. You will want to buy an Invisible Shield screen protector, and they cost $10. So plan on spending $30 more just to get this unit in useable condition. Bottom Line: I wouldn't buy it again...

Suunto t3c - Very good training tool

4
Reviewer: Anonymous , Rotterdam,Netherlands Date: November 19, 2008
Until today the Suunto t3c watch is a very good training tool. I am using it for Kettlebell training and it works great. Just do your excercises until you have reached the right training effect, in the right heart rate zone...I hope you suunto people have a solution to wear the watch on your belt because I can't do the watch around my wrist when doing snatches and cleans.

Great features, POOR screen design

3
Reviewer: Anonymous , Northampton, England Date: November 03, 2008
I got the Suunto T3C as a replacement for an ageing Polar and was particularly drawn to the TE feature. This I am very pleased with. HOWEVER, I feel the watch design regarding the screen is a fundamental flaw... It is raised, which causes a couple of issues. First, and most importantly, this allows light to come in from the side and makes the display VERY DIFFICULT to read - especially at oblique angles (e.g. when cycling). Secondly the screen is made of some cheap material that smudges and scratches easily. I've belatedly ordered a Zagg protector. TE is great, it's very useful to have an idea of how hard to push within a session, but I really am disappointed with the screen and the impact this has on usability. Buyer beware!

Great practical watch

5
Reviewer: Sergei , Boston, MA Date: September 25, 2008
While it does take time and patience to figure out how to use all the functions of the Suunto t3c watch, the process is well worth it. The watch has pretty much all the functions one could possibly want and once you get accustomed to the settings, switching between the different modes is easy. With the bike pod , a foot pod and the heart rate belt I can go through the entire triathlon knowing exactly how well I am doing and when I should push harder. I have used this watch for triathlon training and racing and have taken it to all sorts of climates while climbing/mountaineering. This watch has held up through cold water, hot runs and freezing temps. In the two years that I had the watch I did have a glitch with a backlight once forcing me to send it in, but that only highlighted just how good the Suunto warranty is - I got a replacement within two weeks.
