Suunto t3c Black Arrow: Suunto celebrates serving as the official timing and data partner of the International Triathlon Union (ITU) with the limited edition Suunto t3c Black Arrow. The Black Arrow combines the same leading edge technology you expect in the Suunto t3c with an urban design at home in the gym and the city.

Key differences between the Suunto t3 series watches:

  • Suunto t3: Includes the Standard Heart Rate Belt and automatically deletes logs once the watch reaches its 15-log memory capacity.
  • Suunto t3c: Includes the Comfort Heart Rate Belt that provides interface free heart rate monitoring, and allows you to select which workout logs to delete when the watch reaches its 15-log memory capacity.
  • Suunto t3d: Includes the Dual Heart Rate Belt that provides interface free heart rate monitoring and coded analog for data transmission with cardio gym equipment.

At one point a fitness enthusiast who wanted to monitor and track their heart rate, caloric burn, and other exercise data would need a tangle of electrodes, complex equipment, and extensive personal guidance from a certified fitness trainer. Today, all you need is a Suunto t3 series watch, a PC, and one or more accessories to create an optimal training range that outlines your ideal energy expenditure and muscle exertion while preventing you from overworking and damaging your muscles.

For women, the Suunto t3c and t3d offer select styles designed by women for women. These styles feature softer, narrower wrist straps for improved fit and comfort along with enhanced graphics and colors. You get a more feminine feel without compromising performance.

Turn your Suunto t3 series watch into a GPS Watch with a Suunto GPS POD. The GPS POD tracks speed and distance across a wide variety of outdoor activities, including hiking and cycling.

Standout Features:

  • The women's t3 series watches feature attractive graphics, unique detailing, and a softer, slimmer strap for an improved fit.
  • Training Effect monitors your aerobic conditioning level.
  • Save all 15 of your memory logs, or just selected ones – Measures real time calories burned.
  • Tracks speed and distance when paired with a Suunto POD (Peripheral Observation Device).

What Does the t3c and the t3d do?

Training Effect: Suunto's exclusive Training Effect feature tells you whether you're training too little, too hard or staying within the zones for optimal performance. Training Effect uses a simple 1-to-5 scale to display how intense your workout is based on your current fitness level. And with alarms, you'll know as soon as you move up or down in intensity level.

Interference Free Heart Rate Monitoring: Both the Comfort Heart Rate Belt and the Dual Heart Rate Belt provide interference free HR monitoring anywhere and everywhere, remedying problems associated with previous HR monitors that were affected by power lines outside or electronic equipment inside the gym, making the t3c and the t3d valuable investments for those who love to train outdoors as well as indoors.

The Dual Heart Rate Belt also features Coded Analog to allow data transmission with most popular cardio gym equipment.

15 Log Memory: Record a personal training log of statistical data that reflects the progression of your aerobic health and performance capacity. And choose whether to save all of your logs or just select ones.

Activity Class: The Activity Class rates your current activity levels so that your Suunto watch knows your baseline activity level.

Track Data on Your PC (with the PC POD): Using the PC POD, keep detailed records of your workouts, heart rate, training effect, and calories burned. The PC POD comes with the Suunto Training Manager Lite software.

Track Speed and Distance (with a Suunto POD): With a POD for runners, bicyclers and adventurers, your Suunto t3 watches track speed and distance during workouts. Want to purchase your t3c or t3d with a POD? Choose a compatible training pack, including the Suunto Cycling Pack, Suunto Running Pack, and the GPS enabled Multisport Pack.

Who is the Suunto t3c and t3d best for?

Runners, triathletes, spinners, mountain bikers, and anyone getting into shape benefits from the Suunto t3 series. The Suunto t3c and t3d watches maximize your fitness routine by providing up to the second information on your workouts. And with handy features like a lock button to prevent pressing the wrong button during your workout, they are both easy to use.

With the Dual Heart Rate Belt, the t3d features dual technologies to not only provide ANT interface-free HR monitoring like the t3c's Comfort Heart Rate Belt, but also Coded Analog to allow data transmission with most popular cardio gym equipment.

Comparison: The Suunto t6c and t6d features many of the same features as the t3c and t3d, only it adds an altimeter and features 30 logs of memory. The Suunto t1c offers heart rate monitoring and real calories burned, but forgoes the t3c and td3's training effect, interference free HR monitoring, 15 logs of memory, and PC interface.

Note: If you own a Suunto t3 and updated your heart rate monitor belt to the Comfort Heart Rate Belt, instructions for replacing the comfort belt's battery can be found on page 38 of the t3c instruction manual, available under the "Additional Info" tab.

Watch looks cheap and is delicate

3
Reviewer: Robert Prevatt , Louisville, KY Date: February 16, 2010
I looked at the T3C Black Arrow and Polar RS300 for use with training for marathons. I am an avid watch collector, and value a watch for its asthetics, as well as its functions. For aesthetic pleasure, I went with the T3C. Needless to say, this is my second Suunto watch and will be my last. My Suunto Core's altimeter, barometer, and thermometer all function inaccuarately - despite being a great looking time piece. I gave Suunto another chance with this watch and unfortunately, the T3C is the same story with a different twist. The watch looks good in pictures, but looks cheap in person. Couple this with a pathetically cheap crystal, and the watch looks years old after just a week of use. For the price I paid, I expected a lot more. The functions seem to work fine. I have a GPS pod en route, but I will honestly probably ditch this watch for the Polar, or just keep it as an exercise only watch - since it is so ugly with the beat up crystal - what a disappointment Suunto.

Love it!! Miss it!! Want it to work again!!

Reviewer: Mike Freeman , Aliso Viejo, CA Date: September 25, 2009
I recieved my Black T3 as a birthday gift as I was getting back into shape after passing 40! I love it and have used it as both a HRM and an attractive daily use timepiece. I have recieved many compliments on its appearance. I really enjoy its light weight and dual time functions as I travel quite a bit for work. I am always traveling with my HR strap to various hotels around the country. All this being said, when I am without my T3 I miss it terribly. I have changed the battery twice without issue, but when I last changed it, the display freaked out! I have tried two different, new batteries and have gotten three different outcomes, none of them good! 1) the watch locks up as soon as I replace the back cover 2) the display starts displaying random characters and blacking out the led display. 3) the backlight comes on and won't turn off, and the watch functions again lock up. As I recieved this as a gift I do not have a reciept. It is still within the two year warranty period but I do not know how to prove this... I have always enjoyed the Suunto products and am currently looking into the T9 for diving and the X6 HRT as an all-around activity watch...

t3c - problems, but the jury's still out

3
Reviewer: Anonymous , Radnor, PA Date: July 23, 2009
I just bought the t3c, and though I love the functionality and looks of it, I had moisture under the crystal after 4 days, (the only exposure to water was in the shower), and I started noticing a less-than-new looking crystal after only a couple of days because it was already scratching. (It looks like cheap plastic.) I am sending the watch back to have the moisture problem taken care of, so I'll see how, (and how quickly), they take care of that. Aside from the issues above, i love it so much that I have already started looking into a t6c to add the altimeter function; but I'm not spending another dime until I get satisfaction on the one I just bought.

I just received the t3c for my birthday and it is an awesome monitor it has a ton of functions that are very helpful while training. I really like this model because its perfect for triathlons and just an all around physically active person. Also the chest strap is one of the more comfortable I've had.

Attractive, but poor quality...

1
Reviewer: Chris G. , Boston, MA Date: July 06, 2009
I still think the design of the Suunto watches is very attractive and modern; however, I am disapointed by the quality of the T3. The most notable flaw is the very scratchable face on the watch, which is very disapointing for a watch in this price range. Further, the band on the watch is not at all resilient and will barely last the average user a year and a replacement will run you north of $20. Also, a portion of the pixels on the left-hand side of my watch no longer populate so it is difficult to fully utilize all of the watch functions. Finally, my backlight stopped working, as well. You might think that I have abused the watch, but that is not the case. I wear it running and to work...that's about it. My recommendation would be to consider a competitors watch, which will be more durable and more user friendly.

t3c rocks!

This watch was the perfect balance between form and function. I'm an amateur athelete who was looking for the basics in body measurements and a stylish watch without breaking the bank. The t3c is it...

Great Watch

Reviewer: Zach , Phoenix, AZ Date: February 15, 2009
This is my second T3. the first had water damage because one of the screws came loose and I didn't notice it until after it was too late. This is the most comfortable watch I have worn. With its function and good looks it is the best running watch I have used.

Very disappionted, frozen 3 times in 1 month. Lost training logs.

Reviewer: ben , manhattan, KS Date: February 08, 2009
I've had the watch for about 1 month now. Upon first impressions the watch looked like it came out of a gumball machine, and the watch face is raised making it prone to getting easily scratched(luckily mine hasn't scratched yet). So far the watch has frozen 3 times. The first time the face froze-no buttons worked the display did not move. The second time(about a week later) the backlight would not turn off no matter what combination of buttons I pressed. And today was the third and final time. While sleeping the watch has decided to turn itself off and not come back on. If the battery is dead, then the low bat indicator does not work. But that's not the case. I took the battery out, set the watch down for about 10 minutes, put the same battery back in and now it works again. Too bad all my logs got erased. The battery compartment seems poorly designed also, sometimes can be very hard to open, even with using a coin or similar oblect. When this watch works it nice and a great training aide/easy to use also the HR is very accurate. This could be a very nice watch if it was re-designed, and seems it neds some software updates....maybe I just got unlucky. But to me, it's really not worth the hassle associated with it. I would not suggest this watch.

Nice features, poor build quality

2
Reviewer: Klaas , Papendrecht, Netherlands Date: February 06, 2009
I choose this watch for its design and features (TE is great) and assuming that with Suunto you can't go wrong with quality. Boy was I wrong. From day 1 I have poor signal reception and frequent signal loss between watch and belt causing incorrect training statistics. According Suunto service the ANT signal cannot penetrate the human body so when the wrist is not facing the belt in a straight line, signal is lost after a few seconds. I must say that the service has been prompt and clear, but it is very disappointing to buy a 150 euro watch from Suunto and experiencing constant signal loss when riding a bike or when running. When you are interested in Suunto watches, be sure to check this site and the internet for models with signal loss...
