  • Suunto t4d: Includes the Dual Heart Rate Belt that provides interface free heart rate monitoring and coded analog for data transmission with cardio gym equipment.

The Suunto t4 series monitors your heart rate, caloric burn, and provides detailed information about the progression and effects of your training. Plus, helps whip you into shape with the Suunto Coach, which lets you know when and how intensely to work out.

  • Suunto Coach acts as your personal trainer.

What Does the t4c and t4d do?

Training Effect: Suunto's exclusive Training Effect feature tells you whether you're training too little, too hard or staying within the zones for optimal performance. Training Effect monitors your heartbeat by heartbeat performance and uses a simple 1-to-5 scale to display the improvement of your aerobic conditioning. And with alarms, you know as soon as you hit the next intensity level.

Suunto Coach: Suunto Coach is designed for athletes who are very serious about their training, but may not have a coach or personal trainer available to monitor and make suggestions about adjustments in their workout routine. Suunto Coach software uses American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) guidelines to plan the optimal intensity and duration of your next workout as far as 5 days ahead. Your Suunto t4c or t4d adapts to your performance, maintaining an up-to-date plan of how to best utilize your next trip to the gym, trails, track, slopes, or whatever your preferred activity. If your workout exertion was above or below the optimal level, Suunto Coach will adjust the suggested intensity and duration of your next workout to compensate for the difference.

Interference Free Heart Rate Monitoring: Both the Comfort Heart Rate Belt and the Dual Heart Rate Belt provide interference free HR monitoring anywhere and everywhere, remedying problems associated with previous HR monitors that were affected by power lines outside or electronic equipment inside the gym, making the t4c and the t4d valuable investments for those who love to train outdoors as well as indoors.

The Dual Heart Rate Belt also features Coded Analog to allow data transmission with most popular cardio gym equipment.

Activity Class: The Activity Class rates your current activity levels so that your Suunto watch knows your baseline activity level.

15 Log Memory: Record a personal training log of statistical data that reflects the progression of your aerobic health and performance capacity. And choose whether to save all of your logs or just select certain ones.

Track Data on Your PC (with the PC POD): Using the PC POD, keep detailed records of your workouts, heart rate, training effect, and calories burned. The PC POD comes with the Suunto Training Manager Lite software.

Track Speed and Distance (with a Suunto POD): With a POD for runners, bicyclers and adventurers, your Suunto t4 watches track speed and distance during workouts. Want to purchase your t4c or t4d with a POD? Choose a compatible training pack, including the Suunto Cycling Pack, Suunto Running Pack, and the GPS enabled Multisport Pack.

Who is the Suunto t4c and t4d best for?

Runners, triathletes, spinners, mountain bikers, and anyone getting into shape benefit from the Suunto t4 series. The Suunto t4c and t4d watches maximize your fitness routine by providing up to the second information on your workouts. And with handy features like a lock button to prevent pressing the wrong button during your workout, they both transform your training.

With the Dual Heart Rate Belt, the t4d features dual technologies to not only provide ANT interface-free HR monitoring like the t4c's Comfort Heart Rate Belt, but also Coded Analog to allow data transmission with most popular cardio gym equipment.

Comparison: For those who don't need the personal training benefits of the Suunto Coach, the Suunto t3c and t3d have all the great training, heart rate, and calorie monitoring features of the t4c and t4d, only without the Suunto Coach.

Note: If you own a Suunto t4 and updated your heart rate monitor belt to the Comfort Heart Rate Belt, instructions for replacing the comfort belt's battery can be found on page 41 of the t4c instruction manual, available under the "Additional Info" tab.

Good Watch, Bad Strap

2
Reviewer: Anonymous , Katy, TX Date: March 16, 2010
I love my t4c, but I have already been through 3 (maybe 4 it has been that bad) comfort straps. They just break too easy where they connect to the transmitter. There has got to be some sort of a solution to this by now with as many complaints as I've seen for this. If not, I don't really have a choice but to go to something else. I'm not going to keep spending money on these straps.

I've more then got my money worth

Reviewer: John Wheeler , MN Date: March 04, 2010
I love the watch and would buy another tomorrow if it broke. I've put well over 250,000 calories on it. I do a lot of cardio. I also have the POD for the records and that's awesome too. Although I have to use Parallels on my Mac and that I'm not crazy about, but live with it. I use to use Polar watches, but after reading about the TE on this watch and the cool coach deal I decided to go Suunto. I push myself a little harder then it requires me too, because I have a feeling it's setup a little easier, so no one dies from heart failure. I could be wrong and would like to know if I am.

I should explain how I believe this watch works and am pretty sure of myself. Let say you have a 1:15 workout with a TE of 4.0 sounds pretty easy and some days it is, but as you get going on some days when you're good and fit the watch knows after a few minutes of exercising and adjusts your workout and makes you work harder, cause it knows you can handle it. The opposite is true for days when you're a little under the weather. As you get going I have a feeling it's measuring my stress level and adjusts to make my workout easier, cause it somehow knows I'm tired or ill. I can't wait for their next watch.

I'd like to see Suunto write an app for the iPhone.

Useless!

Reviewer: Anonymous , Port Huron, MI Date: June 23, 2009
I love the way the heart rate monitor looks, feels, and the features. However, every time I use it, and place my hands behind my back or head, I lose the heart rate. Which makes getting an accurate picture of your workout very difficult. I have replaced the batteries, re-paired the belt to the watch, but still the problem persists. I have been a long time Polar user and decided to try Suunto based on the feature and looks. I so want to keep it, I have ordered 2 different monitors from 2 different dealers and both have had the same problem. It's very frustrating. Fix this problem and I will be a long time Suunto user.

Suunto T4c

3
Reviewer: Anonymous , Jacksonville, FL Date: June 15, 2009
I have owned my Suunto t4c for nine months. I am a rower/sculler and I believe the technology behind this machine has helped me improve my overall performance. My main concern is that after only nine months, the housing structure of this fine machine is failing. Cracks form around the face of the watch adjacent to the edge and expand through to the metal cover on the back. After thirty minutes of physical activity (rowing), moisture appears on the inside of the watch. Fortunate for me, the repair is covered under the two years warranty provided by Suunto. I like the design and technology but the material used in manufacturing this product is of poor quality.

Hi! iam glad to have the Suunto T4c as b'day gift (DEC 2008) from my family and i must admit that my running/workout is monitored through T4c and it helped me not only run 21km Mumbai Marathon but is helping me control my diet(I am Foody) as i transfer all my workout/running data to PC and analyse. Congratulations for such an innovative watch. mukesh gandhi, mumbai

Great features but very poor screen

Reviewer: Paul Atkinson , UK Date: February 28, 2009
I've had my T4c for just over 1 week now and have used it for 7 sessions (running and cycling). Most of my runs have been at night and i have been really strugging to read the display. The Backlight flickers in certain modes and it is impossible to read if there is any moisture on the face. I was so looking forward to using the watch and the features are fantastic but I just can't continue having to stop everytime i want to check my distance, time etc.

GREAT WATCH!

4
Reviewer: bradley blackshire , torrance Date: January 20, 2009
now while i may not have alot to say it is the best, i have truely enjoyed it. it is a great watch, the heart rate has given me alot of data and i love seeing all of my runs and the heart rate i was at. the coach is pritty great, while i may not listen to it to well, it has matched what i was planning to do. it is very easy to us, the heart rate is shown largely. but there is down sides. this watch isent that cheap, and i feel the should have raised the price to put on a stronger face and a stainless steal backing. i have already scratched the face in 2 weeks, and i fear the back may rust. and another is that the light dosent always work, this is a major problem since i enjoy night runs. but i am very glad of my purchase and i hope people will choose this watch

Suunto t4c Nice

Reviewer: Anonymous , Carmel, IN Date: January 11, 2009
The Suunto t4c is my first training watch...The HR readings are too small to read during a work out. This is problamatic unless you have the alarms set. It will take awhile before I learn all the settings, and uses.
