Initial impression

1
Reviewer: Michael , San Diego, CA Date: December 04, 2008
My initial impression wasn't very good. The product looks cheap and doesn't fit the watch. I have a Suunto X-lander that I have had going on 8 years and am very happy with it. The service you provide to clean/re-calibrate is fantastic. In my line of work, it demands a rugged heavy duty watch which the X-lander is. When I saw you had a shield for it I thought I'd try one to keep the face in good condition. The circular piece of the shield is far to small for the watch. I would like to see it match exactly the watch face with the angled edge on the bezel. I would also like to see a selection of colors for the side pieces (black to be a little more tactical for us military folks) I will keep it on my X-lander for a while to see if it actually protects it. Please make it to the quality and standard of your wrist computers .

Face protector

I got the protector for the obvious reason. It meets my needs and I am happy with the protection it offers. If you make the investment on the Suunto Watch spend the extra on the face protector to save the wear & tear on your investment

It's too bulky and difficult to read through. If you want protection though it does do that, and can be removed after the threatening event

Face Protector

Reviewer: Ben B , Ft Wainwright, AK Date: December 13, 2007
I only had it on the watch for a day or two. My vector watch is already pretty big, with the face protector attatched it is huge. While it makes the watch larger it also magnifies the display and it will protect the face. So if you are more concerned with appearances than function don't buy it. If you want to protect your watch face then get it. Two protectors come in one order. Next time I go to the field it will go back on. As for starting an emergency fire with it....... Good luck.

SUUNTO WATCH FACE PROTECTOR

5
Reviewer: Mike , California Date: November 23, 2007
The watch face protector is a must for suunto watches. I use one on my Stinger and my Vector. The magnifying lense assists with underwater reading. The plastic watch face has a tendancy to scratch in harsh environments.

Although it looks a little weird, it certainly does the job it is designed to do.

Too clunky

1
Reviewer: Anonymous , Park City, UT Date: October 14, 2007
The protector is a great idea (considering how easily the face gets scratched) but was poorly executed. It is much too thick and distorts the view of the numbers. In fact, it's harder to see through the protector than through scratches! Its bulky and looks terrible. Why not just make the Suunto face more scratch resistant? Getting a scratch the first 24 hours of ownership isn't a sign of quality. (Though, I love everything else about the watch, so.....)

Love the functionality, watch construction? Ich do

I bought the face protector hoping that it would add some longevity to my new T3 watch, which was my second, after the first one broke in less than 3 weeks! Ouch! Well...I am now getting ready to send in my second T3, (2 1/2 months total). The functionality that the T3 offers is amazing -- just please rebuild the watch in a more durable design. I've had a Vector for over 8 years now, that is one tough watch! And, to Suunto's credit they fixed it right up after I destroyed it in a nice little road bike crash about 3 years ago. Suunto, you have amazing functionality, although I am beginning to question your new designs, and their durability?!

Not Up To Par

2
Reviewer: Nathan Lynch , Oceanside, CA Date: July 17, 2007
I ordered the face protectors because I am hard on watches since I joined the Marine Corps 8 years ago, I own two Suunto watches, both have taken a beating, one has even survived after my left hand grabbed a high voltage line for almost three minutes in Iraq. The watches are great, but the face protectors leave a lot to desire.

suunto watch/protector

Reviewer: Garry , palmetto, fl Date: February 18, 2007
it is easy to operate for someone that could not operate the old vcr and at first I thought the workouts established by the "coach" were easy but they are becoming harder the longer "coach" is trianing me. I wish they had a larger selection of watchbands. Possibly made of silicone in different colors. As for the watch protector, it is a unique solution to a minor problem. cannot wait to get the GPS pod.

Face Protector

4
Reviewer: Rit , Marina Del Rey, CA Date: November 27, 2006
These face protectors are a little overpriced, but they do their job. I've banged my watch a few times since I've put them on and they've managed to keep it scratchless. Somewhat clouds the visiblity of the display, but still readable. And as most people have mentioned, dirt tends to get trapped underneath the FP. Still a wise investment.

Face Protectors

Reviewer: Anonymous , O'Fallon IL Date: November 10, 2006
These aren't cheap, but they do a good job of protecting the watch face. If your watch is exposed to a lot of perspiration--as mine is--they tend to harden and yellow over time. Also, they need to be removed occasionally to clean out dirt, etc., that collects between the face and the protector. All in all, though expect a long service life out of this item.

face protector

Reviewer: Oliver Woodbridge , Auckland, N.Z. Date: July 26, 2006
It does exactly as it is supposed to. I have put it through quite a bit of abuse and it has protected the watch perfectly, however it does not hug the face of the watch and therefore allows debris to get between it and the watch face making reading the watch in low light difficult. If this problem was addressed then I would give it the full five stars.

Face Protector

2
Reviewer: Dilibe Anthony Aneke , College Park, MD Date: July 24, 2006
I recently picked up the face protector (FP), although it feels good, durable and serves as a magnifying glass and gives the watch alttle more toughness, it however to my surprise gets too foggy most times and creates too much moisture between the FP and the watch itself, thus causes difficulty in reading the basic function: TIME. It is clearly not worth the price......Dilibe Anthony Aneke

It kinda works...

2
Reviewer: Brian Kliesen , Wilmore, KS Date: July 22, 2006
This is a good idea, and if you have a hard time reading your watch it might work well, however if you work in the outdoors like I do, these are more trouble than they are worth. Easily scratched and often have a penchant for collecting dirt and sweat, they do protect the crystal and make a nifty magnifying glass when you need to get a very small splinter out of your hand. Otherwise, this is a miss...

Naah.

Reviewer: Chris Owens , Buzzard's Bay, MA Date: July 22, 2006
In short, I thought the protector wasn't worth buying. It was too bulky - how thick do you want your watch?. More importantly, it was too cloudy to read through. A pair of used O-rings are currently employed to hold the bezel on my Vector.

Face Protector

Reviewer: Anonymous , Tobyhanna, PA Date: July 22, 2006
The face protector works great to keep scratches off of the face, but after about a week or two of wearing it, it started to get cloudy and made it real hard to read the display. I am sure in other conditions it works real good, but over here in Iraq, with all the sand and fine dirt, it didn't take long to cloud up.

Reviewer: Edgardo Valdivia , hawaii Date: July 22, 2006
It is a good face protector, but it makes difficult to see the time, due to a bubble-like on the face. It would be better if the protector sticks on the face completly

Reviewer: Anonymous , Tarin Kowt, Afghanistan Date: July 22, 2006
I am a service member stationed in Afghanistan and purchased the face protector because the environment and terrain here have destroyed most of my fellow soldiers watches. I have now been in country for 9 months and I am happy to say that my watch face has no scratches or damage. The protector is easy to put on and has done an excellant job of protecting the watch.

POOR PRODUCT

1
Reviewer: Anonymous , cleveland, Ohio Date: July 21, 2006
I do not like this product. The device is CLOUDY... not at all clear. It does not sit well on the watch face and as a result it looks like there are bubbles under it. If it was optically CLEAR, it would be a FANTASTIC product.

Vector Face Protector

3
Reviewer: William Hale , Camp Liberty, Iraq Date: July 21, 2006
I liked the concept of protecting my wrist comupter, but due to the bubble level on the face it cause a gap between the protector and face, leaving an air bubble. Hard to see in sun light too.

Sunnto Face Protector Review

2
Reviewer: Stephen Smith , Lawai, Hawaii Date: July 21, 2006
I am generally pleased with my Suunto Vector Watch, its features and visibility. However I am very disappointed in the need to use the face protector to prevent the face from scratching. I lead a very active outdoor life, both in my business & personally, and as such would like to have consistent access to my watch. The face protector fogs up too easily and I often am unable to read the time or any of the other functions. I would think that Suunto could produce a Vector watch that does not need a face protector to keep from scratching or a face protector that does not fog up in humid climates.

Great idea, and its true , it protects from scatches, but in no time at all it's to scuffed to see through. I have the Khaki which is a little hard to read in the first place, that could be the problem.

Only use when you are in the backcountry. Collects too much dirt and fuzz in everyday use. Also started going yellowish with time. Other than that, I like it.

An excellent and very inexpensive way to protect your divewatch. A no-brainer as far as I am concerned and well worth the $11.00 considering the cost and value of my dive watch.
